Meet Hunter Nelson, VP of Client Engagement – Hunter is driven by authentic relationships and a deep commitment to helping others achieve their goals.
He leads with his heart, approaching every client interaction through the lens of “How can I help?” Rather than seeing himself as a traditional salesperson, Hunter views his role as guiding people on their path of self-discovery and growth, generating insights that allow clients to solve their most pressing challenges.
Hunter brings eight years of mission-driven experience to SparkEffect, having previously spent nearly four years at Oregon State University Foundation raising funds for scholarships and educational initiatives. His background in philanthropy reinforced his people-centered approach and commitment to creating direct, positive impacts on individuals’ lives. At Fierce Conversations, he developed his expertise in consultative selling and relationship building, consistently focusing on understanding client needs and providing tailored solutions.
In his current role at SparkEffect, Hunter serves as the primary face of the organization for clients, helping align their goals with SparkEffect’s comprehensive solutions including executive coaching, leadership development, career transition, and board governance. He is deeply involved in the Portland and Pacific Northwest business community, positioning himself as a trusted resource for his professional network.
Hunter holds a degree in New Media Communications from Oregon State University and maintains several professional certifications including IMPACT Selling and DiSC Training. He currently serves as a board member and Director of Monthly Events for ATD Cascadia Chapter, the Portland chapter of the Association for Training and Development. Hunter is passionate about supporting ALS research and patient care, particularly through Team Gleason, following his personal experience caring for a family member with the disease.
In his free time, Hunter is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting, fishing, snowboarding, whitewater rafting, biking, and backpacking throughout the Pacific Northwest. He’s a passionate live music enthusiast with a particular love for bluegrass and jam bands. A devoted Minnesota Vikings fan despite living in Portland, Hunter also supports the Trail Blazers and enjoys cooking and craft beer appreciation. You might even catch him behind the bar at his best friend’s taphouse, Smitty’s, where he volunteers every Thursday evening, combining his love of community building with his appreciation for quality beer.
